We to LA for business last week. Was there for 5 days on a Denny’s press check. Last day in town we got to spend a few hours at Universal Studios. It was pretty cool. This is a shot of me riding the “Jurassic Park” ride. LA is friggin’ sweet - would go again anytime. Also while I was out there I got to see my good friend from SCAD that I used to play soccer with, Amy Runyen. It was good times, she hasn’t changed a bit.

Well, it’s finally happened. My bro’s baby girl has taken to, what he refers to as “the dark side”. That’s right - she likes UK. I know his heart is breaking. But maybe thru this tough transitional time, he too can learn to share the love of the cards with the cats. And maybe, just maybe, he too can see the beauty in not only the color red, but blue as well. I can only hope, for the love of the children, he comes to this conclusion.
If not… it’s a small victory for me. Ha Ha.

FEB 2009 // Dad back in hospital
I surprised both of my parents by showing up to the Gulf Breeze ICU over Valentines Day weekend. My mom had called just days before to tell me about how my dad had fallen out of bed in the middle of the night. She was unable to get him up, so she had to call EMS. That landed him in the ICU and under treatment for renal failure. His blood pressure was up, blood sugar, INR levels and the pain in his legs was intense. My mom called again on Thursday night - I could hear the panic and worry in her voice. I knew I needed to get  there, even if she was a little hestitant that it would be a burden to me. With the next 12 hours Tara and I had made arrangements for all the pets and that her mother would be staying with Mason. 8 hours later, we were in Navarre.
While there I watched my dad go from the ICU to a regular room. His spirits were up and as usual, he was ready to get back home and to his regular routine. He hates hospitals, but who doesn’t?! The challenge is medication managment. His kidneys are just not metabolizing many of the medications he is on. The doctors are doing what they can to help educate my family on the risks involved with his meds. I think from here on out a home health nurse will be coming to the house to help them both keep on top of the presecriptions and blood pressure levels.
I posted this picture of my dad and his stuffed animal turtle he got as a gift while we were there. It was so cute. I have never seen him quite light up the way he did when he saw this cute lil’ thing. Which of course, inspired me to start sending him stuffed animal turtles. hahaha. It was just too adorable, so I had to snap a shot of it. The best part was that he named it, “Turtle-Turtle”. Just too creative Dad. haha.
Feel better. Love you.

Once again the crazy girls at EP found a new way to entertain themselves, and me by doing “impersonation fridays”. This friday everyone dressed up like Karen. I saw it all, from tall boots under the jeans, to double padded and stuffed bras. It was a fun day no doubt. Katherine is pictured here with Karen (top pick on the left) and she even accessorized with the Blackberry that Karen is never seen without.

[Flash 9 is required to listen to audio.]
This song is by Mike Jones, Slim Thug and Paul Wall. I can’t describe how much I love this song. I know every single word and at times you’ll hear me humming it. Aside from it being a daily anthem for the grind - it’s my song on my alarm clock. So I wake up to this song every single day. Love it. Enjoy.
